Session Infomation

The functionalities of traditional optical systems are typically fixed post-fabrication. In contrast, emerging active optical metasurfaces and metamaterials allow dynamic function tuning with significantly enhanced performance and thereby open up exciting opportunities for agile manipulation of light propagation, processing and interaction with matter. Harnessing various tuning mechanisms, dynamically-controlled meta-optical devices and systems with high performance and new functionalities have been realized. Such unprecedented capabilities are critical to a wide range of applications such as imaging, sensing, computing, navigation, quantum photonics, etc. This topic covers all aspects in frontier research, technologies and perspectives of active meta-optics. We aim to bring together experts from academia and industry to discuss recent advances, assess key challenges and outline future directions in these exciting fields.
