PIERS —— A global symposium committed to
advancing photonics and electromagnetics for the benefit of humanity.
The session is focused on applications of microwave technologies in medical therapy and diagnostics. Contributions related to therapy will be primarily in the areas of microwave hyperthermia, microwave ablation and electroporation - with particular emphasis, but not limited to new technologies in applicators, systems and phantom design, as well as novel treatment planning algorithms. Diagnostic contributions will mainly focus on microwave medical imaging, which involves design of novel antenna elements and phantoms, development of detection, classification and imaging algorithms as well as characterization of dielectric parameters of biological tissues. Special session “Recent Advancements in EM Technologies for Medicine” is prepared in cooperation with EU COST Action CA17115 - European network for advancing Electromagnetic hyperthermic medical technologies (MyWAVE).
