Session Infomation

Electromagnetic inverse problems are a pervasive and rich research field, which has progressed at large extent across the years fostered by countless applications that range from antenna design and testing to radar imaging and inverse scattering for non-invasive diagnostics. To be successful, the recipe requires different ingredients, such as electromagnetic modeling, math and numerical methods, signal processing, electronics, etc. Actually, significant advances have been and are being attained in all these aspects, even spurred by new paradigms like compressing sensing and deep learning methods. Yet, it is often required to act within harsh environments, where the background medium is possibly uncertain, the outcome of the diagnostics has to be quick, the amount of data is limited and sometimes incomplete (phaseless), the SNR very low, the primary field not precisely known, etc.
The Session aims at collecting recent advancements in this field, which address theoretical, computational or experimental aspects of inverse problems in the whole electromagnetic spectrum for the depicted scenario. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, computational electromagnetics, phase retrieval, antenna design and diagnostics, active and passive radar imaging, inverse scattering algorithms, as well as innovative applications.
