Session Infomation

The use of nanomaterials in technologies for energy generation and sustainability applications continues to represent an important thematic of academic and commercial research. In fact, the integration of nanomaterials in devices for next generation energy related technologies can improve device performance in numerous ways. These include, for example, increased harvesting and conversion efficiencies, simplified and faster manufacturing processes for novel device architectures, improved quality of realized films reflecting in an improved stability of final devices an enlarged lifetime of energy storage systems. Moreover, advanced in situ as well ex situ characterization techniques are essential tools for revealing properties and working mechanisms related to the employment of various nanomaterials. In addition, advanced characterization techniques are now pivotal in understanding the working principles and degradation mechanisms at different levels, from materials to complete devices. This session focuses on the advanced nanomaterials and devices for next energy generation and storage technologies together with their characterization. It will cover the most recent progress and new developments in the design and utilization of nanomaterials for highly efficient, stable and novel devices relevant in exploiting and managing renewable energy and sustainability. Example topics include a broad range of subjects, from nanomaterials synthesis to the design and characterization of devices and technologies for energy production and storage with nanomaterial integration.
