The constant development of new power semiconductor components (e. g. based on SiC or GaN) operating at higher frequencies and lower losses brings additional possibilities for the use and deployment of power semiconductor converters with an overlap in environmental, energy, and transport issues. The section is focused on the possibilities of implementing promising sophisticated algorithms, which further increase the performance of the semiconductor components themselves, but also increase the efficiency of energy systems (ecological energy production, intelligent distribution and its flow routing, high-quality conversion with low losses and protection against unwanted phenomena) as well as systems with electrical drives (especially AC drives with induction, various types of synchronous, and special motors) at vector, direct or predictive control, especially with regard to the development of electric traction vehicles and electromobility in general.
